The Martyrs Of Ireland Irish Independence Retro 1867 Fenian Martyrs Poster Available sizes: Image size 10-3/8" x 13-3/8" on 11" x 14" paper. Image size 11-3/8" x 14-3/4" on 12" x 18" paper. Image size 12-3/8" x 16" on 13" x 19" paper. Here we have a poster issued in 1869 in memoriam of the Manchester Martyrs. Irish Nationalists William O'Mera Allen, Michael Larkin, and William Goold (aka O'Brien) were hanged in Manchester, England on November 23, 1867 for the murder of a policeman which occured during an attempted prison break of nationalists uprising leaders Colonel Thomas J. Kelly and Captain Timothy Deasy. The original print was published in 1869 by J. Walsh & Co., 37 Spring St., NY and Chas. Harl, 99 Fulton St., also of NY.. Along the bottom is eight lines of nationalistic verse written by a Mr. P.D. Farrell.These are the three young Heroes, who for their country died,They shall long be remembered by Erin’s child.They lost their lives in a noble cause by English treachery,They lost their lives for Ireland’s sake, their native Country.In all that fought for Ireland, they were the noblest ever seen,They fought to gain a victory, all for the Emerald Green.This victory once accomplished, will give us our native land,T’will remind us of our martyrs, who fought for Ireland.Our posters are shipped in sturdy mailing tubes, fully insured!You can see our other Irish items by clicking here.
